I am מרדכי זאב, Mordechai Z’ev, also known as Matt Wolf, a Métis Sephardic Jew. Acting has always been a passion of mine, not just because I am a natural born story-teller, but for my boundless love and empathy for my fellow humans. Nothing makes me feel as fulfilled as helping others, and to me that manifests by giving people permission to overcome their inner critic. Sometimes that looks like being the first person to take food from the buffet when everyone is standing around because no one wants to be first, and sometimes it looks like being vulnerable on screen to show people that the way they feel about something is normal and okay.

As an actor, I am a modern day Oppenheimer; a collegiate, scientific, MENSA level guy. On the other side of the spectrum, that same genius lends itself to a darkness, manifested as one who has battled and overcome his demons, or who is losing the fight to his demons. Halfway in between, I’m the family man who seeks something greater, perhaps a spiritual solution to a worldly problem.

I have appeared in several low budget indie productions, as the kombucha-making Gabe in Cleave, hard-nosed Detective Rogers in Harvey the Great: Case of the Stolen Painting, and the devious mastermind Lex in Nine Lives. Due to the dearth of High Fantasy productions in the Boston area, I wrote, produced, directed, and starred as the stoic warrior Sakan al’Galrodan in Binding the Shattered Harp, based on a fan fiction set in the world of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. I have also appeared in numerous local commercials.

I live in Boston with my wife and four children. We don’t have any pets, because four children is enough. If we did have a pet, it would probably be a shih-tzu, even though my children lobby for a domesticated lion. Reading is a preferred pastime of mine, especially the Fantasy genre, and The Wheel of Time in particular. I love participating in Fantasy/Period projects. Regardless of pet status, I am local hire to the NY area.
